    Its been awhile...
    since I've last updated.

I quit that job at the restaurant. I became really close with this girl named Solvita there and her roomate Omar. We still talk. I had good reasons to leave though.

My grandfather passed away. I still can't believe it...

Tomorrow it is exactly one year ago that my sister and I nearly killed ourselves in a car accident.

Tomorrow night I am seeing Badly Drawn Boy in concert. I'm excited.

I am overwhelmed with my schoolwork right now and my personal life. I can't remember the last time I was so excited and so depressed all at the same time.

    Such a good day...
I'm floating. Today I thought a little about a film project, and about my life in general. I helped Pete with a math problem, one of those logic ones. I am so bad at math, but I wanted to help him because he had a lot of work. Then I decided that I couldn't stop till I solved the problem. It made me feel good, like I'm not an idiot, plus I was helping my wonderful roomie.

Then we walked around the neighborhood looking for jobs. Like I need another odd job. We walked into an Italian restaurant and I got a job, It was unreal. I'm excited cause its a quick walk. Then immediately after I felt the anxiety, like now I'll never have time and I'll never be able to go home for karate or my other jobs. I'm scared, but I'll just see how it plays out.

I had a nice talk with Dan Feeney. I miss him so much.

Right now I'm listening to "I love N.Y.E" on the About a Boy album from Badly Drawn Boy. It is so beautiful I might burst.

Its been so long since i've updated. I'm now at my home in south philly, its pretty awesome. I'm livin with 3 guys, but we'll need another roomate come second semester if anyone is interested.

You know how so much time passes and you have a lot that happens to you, but by the time you go to write it you don't even know where to start or what to say? Well thats me right now. I'll just try to be better about updating...

Oh, if anyone can get their hands on a zoom lens for a minolta SRT 101 I would appreciate it oh so much. I'm desperate.

I'm working every single day of the week, the three days at the mattress store are the easy ones. Yesterday I had a lovely fourth of July at the steakhouse (not really). I worked lunch and dinner. On my break I walked across to old navy with one of the other waitresses to kill the time. When we came back for dinner it got freakishly busy. Why would people go out to eat on the 4th? One of the cooks told me his wife was coming in with her parents to celebrate her birthday and he wanted them to sit in my section. I was really touched by that and it was fun. That was my last happy memory of the night. We were understaffed and I had too many people and I was so overwhelmed and frustrated I started to cry. Yes, I cried and I actually sobbed in front of one of my tables. They were very nice though and told the one of the managers how great I am and then they all hugged me goodbye. One table I never went back to, my manager had to take them the check. They wrote on my reciept "You did a good job Mel" Haha. One of my other tables I think was too scared to ask me for anything else the rest of the night. Everyone in there saw me walking around crying. Two old ladies said something about it to my friend Caroline. I was mortified but Caroline insists that I'm pretty when I cry so it was ok. I felt so ugly and stupid though. But a lot of the people I work with were giving me pep talks and trying to cheer me up and it was really sweet. Thank god I'm goin to Mexico on Saturday...after everything from this year I need a damn vacation.

Last night was my uncle's wedding. It was at a very beautiful expensive place, the food was spectacular and there was an open bar along with a wine cellar. I suppose I had a good time, but there were a few things that bothered me. First off, I never wanted my uncle to get married. I know its selfish, but we're close, and I like having him around. Now I never see him anymore. I do want him to be happy and I'm happy for him, but the bride's family was so disgusting. They were so rich and snotty and fake. Well, I guess some were ok, but most weren't. Then my uncle had to go and invite the family members that we haven't seen in twelve years (and there are good reasons why we haven't) and everyone else was being all peaceful and forgiving and crap, and I just didn't want to. I did speak to my one estranged uncle, only because he cornered me, but I didn't speak to his wife or my cousins. If they gave two shits about our family they could have picked up a phone or made an effort since they were the ones in the wrong. Now they are coming to my home in a couple weeks for my sister's college graduation party. I really don't know how I feel about this, and I feel like I'm being a bad person. I don't know.

Yesterday was great! I shipped off some packages in the mail for my buddies Jim and Geoff. Then Val and I ate lunch, she took me to my orientation for my new job. It went well, we went to the mall, came home. I was gone all day and it was fabulous. Good spending time with Val too.

    wedding bells....
So last night was Kathleen and Patrick's wedding. It was really lovely. The place was beautiful, all the bridesmaids had on pretty dresses. My mom did piano and singing for the ceremony and everyone loved her. The reception was real nice....Amy made me dance a little. Haha, Jacqi was there and she had to tell me which way to go during the electric slide so I didn't get stomped on. I caught the bouquet, Ryan Ware got the garder. Then of course he had to slide it on my leg in front of everyone and he is like the most akward person I know. It was funny. I'm really happy for Kathleen and Patrick they seemed really happy.

I had my black-belt test on Saturday...it went well. I am a little sick so it sucked when I couldn't even swallow when I was moving during the test, but whatever. I didn't do my terminology perfectly and that upsets me. If I could go back in time and do every movement perfect, I would. I'm glad its over. And I'm more inspired now than ever to train hard, I really love it.

It was mother's day...I have a great mom!

Three more finals and I'm outta this bitch.

I've been crabby all day long and I don't know why...I'm starting to come out of it though.

Let me tell you about my friend Gene...
Gene is great. He really is. He is the kind of guy who eats at Chinatown with a bunch of friends and forgets his money. He is the kind of guy who dances around with a box of donuts on his head. He is the kind of guy who dates a 26 year old girl, just because she is 26, but at the same time doesn't respect her because she is 26 (yeah i don't get it either). He is the kind of guy who gets hit on by gay men repeatedly hahaha (i am really cracking up as i write this one). He is the kind of guy who thinks you have brain damage just because you are friendly to him. He is the kind of guy who goes to work and sleeps in a closet instead of helping people, then comes out and picks fights and kicks eveyone out. His name is Gene and we love him!

P.s. He takes beautiful pictures, he really is talented. He took the one of me on this page.

So karate was awesome. Mr. Peters would work us out hard, give us a minute to breathe and say "slow down your heart beat.....so I can GET IT BACK UP". Haha and he was making us run around the room doing flying sidekicks at the bags while saying "when I move you move" and we would all say "just like that". It was crazy. I was so beat at the end of class but now I'm kinda pumped for my geology lab final. And I probably won't do quite as good as I should...but I think I'll do fairly well. Its gonna be a long weekend however....a lot of projects and work....

Oh, and Tasha had a good birthday today so that was good. She gave me a book that she completed the other day. For her one education class they had to make a book on a social issue and she did it on wearing your seatbelt. She dedicated it to me (since I would have been dead if I didn't wear mine) and then gave it to me. It is the sweetest thing ever.

    what a weekend...
This weekend was good. Saw a cool house with my friends, made soup at Ryan's and watched kill bill with him and Tash. Worked the Phantoms on Friday, had our end of the year party. I didn't stay long though. Came home and played Etta James and talked with Tash. Then of course the main event of this weekend....Destructoball part 2. Let me just briefly sum up the hightlights from it.....

-Me, Tash, Bethany, and Jim walking throught the ghetto to get cupcake mix while eating hot dogs.
-Hiding the cupcakes while they had to cool from the evil boys.
-Me, Tash, and Bethany taking a nap in Jim's bed and locking ourselves in to keep out the boys who were trying to get the cupcakes.
-The girls and Chris singing "Chips...and dip....and jello shots"
-Making friends with Roy, who used to scare me.
-Me and Tasha in the bathroom saying how we wanted to see Ross, we come out, and hes right in the doorway!
-Marrying Ross with a piece of easter grass tied around his finger.
    -Stealing Jame's toilet paper.
    -Listening to Dan's song.
    -The cab ride home.

Then the next day, Jim's away message said "Destructed" and Gene IMs me when hes been at work for hours but claims he just woke up, I ask him where he slept and he says "the closet". Haha.

Its overcast out and I'm diggin it.

    its been a good day...
It all started when I was going to my first class....I was on my way in, Shenese was on her way out. It was clearly a sign from God that I was supposed to go eat with her and Tash and not go to class. So thats what I did. Then in my next class this nice girl gave me a cool magazine to read instead of paying attention to our horrible teacher, so thats what I did. Then I came back and Sincere was teaching me how to salsa dance. Then I got together with a group from my screenwriting class to workshop our screenplays and it went better than I thought, I got good advice. Then I had a nice dinner at Ryan's place and watched the Flyers and they won. It was beautiful out, and its gonna be a good weekend.

    Awesome...
Kill Bill volume 2 was fuckin amazing!!! The theater was so packed, and the entire place was shut down, only open for this film. I took my test in like 30 minutes, I wrote and wrote until I thought my hand was gonna fall off. Then I left, which I know my teacher will have a wise ass remark for that next week, but I don't care. I can't remember a time I was so in to a movie. I'm in love with Quentin Tarantino...I don't care if people say hes crazy looking. I love him for his mind (which some people say is worse).

    Its a beautiful day.....Flyers won.....Gonna be a kick ass weekend....Ahhhhh I'm so happy right now I can't stand it.

Tomorrow I gotta bust out of my african studies class. My teacher knows that I'm tryin to see Kill Bill vol. 2 early and we have a huge test. I'm takin it in like a half hour. By six o clock Im outta there regardless of how much I have done and I dont give a shit.
